Maddie is passionate about providing parents with the tools they need to help their children from hard places thrive. Her role as the Program and Operations Assistant is directly correlated to her passion and allows her to serves families, assist the Programs team with their clients, and perform necessary tasks and projects that enable the organization to succeed and grow.
Maddie started at Chosen as an intern in the spring of 2020 and joined Chosen’s staff in the fall of that year. Maddie graduated from the University of Texas A&M with a degree in sociology and will graduate with her Master of Social Work in December of 2021 from Texas State University. Since pursuing her degrees, she has volunteered and interned at several organizations including Child Protective Services, a child advocacy center, and various other non-profit organizations.
Maddie is trained in Trauma Competent Caregiver and utilizes this curriculum with Chosen families. Through her training and social work background, Maddie’s talent lies in connecting with families through the coaching and support she provides. Additionally, she has been willing to collaborate with all departments by completing projects for both the Program and Operations teams and assisting in recruitment for the organization.
Chosen’s mission to serve families that have been affected by the child welfare system was what led Maddie to apply and interview for an internship position, and was the reason she decided to come on as a staff member later that year. She has always had a passion to work and serve in child welfare. Her heart for foster care and adoption started when her close family friends adopted and has continued to grow as she has gained more experience and education around child welfare.
Maddie currently resides in New Braunfels, Texas where she serves at Chosen and works to finish her degree. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.
