Lisa is passionate about caregivers playing an essential role in the healing work with their children. As a therapist, Lisa walks with families through education and purposeful activities to assist them in navigating their feelings and behaviors to grow appropriate, realistic, capabilities for their child’s age, history, and environment.
Lisa joined Chosen in 2021 with over ten years of experience in child welfare, in settings such as low-income schools, parent education, adoption, foster care, and youth support service agencies. Lisa earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a certified teacher in the state of Florida. Lisa is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner and uses these evidence-based strategies when working with children and families to promote safety and connection. Lisa has also completed Youth Mental Health First Aid, Triple P- Positive Parenting Program, PREP Marriage and Relationship Education, and adoption competency trainings.
Lisa learned about Chosen through a Guardian Ad Litem that was also helping one of her families. She was drawn to their commitment to serve the entire family with trauma-responsive care. Lisa is passionate about breaking generational cycles of trauma. This is what motivates her to work with whole family systems to implement proven approaches that bring dignity to their journey and restore relationships.
Lisa and her husband have been married for six years and have one son. They also care for local foster and adoptive families through respite and additional support needs. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys baking desserts and neighborhood walks.
