Jennifer has an MBA in Finance and Operations Management, which allows her to see and understand both sides of a structured environment. Her passion is to provide excellent service to those in need, by supporting staff and leadership with the financial information needed to make decisions.
Jennifer has 20 years of full-cycle accounting experience, with over 5 being dedicated to federal, state, and local grant funding opportunities. She has been involved in all aspects of putting together grants, including budgets, narratives, reimbursements, and the tracking for each individual line in those grants. Jenn’s experience expands between both the for-profit and the not-for-profit sectors, which gives her insight into managing both as one entity. She has a thorough understanding of how grants work and how to manage both the internal and external aspects of their funding. She has advanced software knowledge and can use that to be more efficient and accurate in her everyday work.
Jennifer’s connection with Chosen stems from her mother. At an early age, her mother was the only 1 of 6 children to be placed in foster care. She never had a chance to know or understand why this decision was made. She spent many years in group foster homes before being adopted by a family. Today, her mother still questions why and believes it has had an impact on the way she raised her children. Jenn often sees her mother’s emotional struggles that she has carried with her for nearly 70 years.
Jennifer is a single mother of 3 teenagers, one who just started college at West Virginia University this fall. Her family has a passion for rescuing animals – having 2 kittens, 3 dogs, a turtle, a guinea pig, and 2 gerbils. In her free time, Jenn enjoys quality time with the kids, traveling, reading, and writing music and poetry.
