Anna Valdez is the Clinical Practicum Student with the Programs team at Chosen, and came on board in May of 2021. She is bilingual, and holds a BA in English with a Teacher Certification and an MA in English with a concentration in Literature and Culture.
After teaching high school for 2 years, Anna Valdez lived in Monterrey, Mexico for 5 years as a Program Coordinator for the international organization, Back2Back Ministries. Along with being a Program Coordinator, Anna was the primary caregiver for 17 teenage girls in a span of 5 years with whom she successfully applied the Trust-Based Relational Intervention strategies. She is a Trust Based Relational Intervention® Practitioner from Texas Christian University and a Trauma Free World affiliate trainer. She’s had the opportunity to train on trauma informed care to organizations internationally and in central Texas.
She is now the Director of Programs for Fostering Hope Austin where she trains families, other caregivers and professional staff in trauma informed care, develops audience specific curriculum and coordinates trauma informed efforts for the organization. Her experience includes developing group specific trainings for volunteers and churches, support groups for foster parents and caregivers, and helping institutions move through the continuum of trauma informed care. She has served the caregivers of vulnerable children for over 8 years, helping them gain skills to love their children well.
