Alicia is passionate about strengthening families so they can experience healing by moving from surviving to thriving. Her role as a Care Manager at Chosen allows her to do just that by educating the community, coaching parents, and connecting families to resources that will help them thrive during challenging seasons.
Alicia joined Chosen in May of 2021. She graduated with her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University and became a licensed marriage and family therapist in 2012. Alicia opened a private practice in late 2013 where she provided therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Her personal experience with kinship care gave her a passion to work with families caring for vulnerable children. In 2016 she became a Trauma Competent Caregiver and then went on to become an affiliate trainer for Trauma Competent Caregiver.
In 2016 Alicia went to work part-time for a child welfare agency in Kansas and was trained to facilitate a support group for kinship caregivers called Caring for Our Own and in n 2017 she became a TBRI® Practitioner. Alicia has trained child welfare workers, foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, churches, and community agencies on Trauma Competent Caregiver and TBRI®, and has led several Caring for Our Own support groups. Alicia has also been trained in EMDR and the Attachment and Trauma Protocol for Children and Families from the Attachment and Trauma Center out of Nebraska.
Alicia is ecstatic to be part of Chosen. She has a passion for trauma-informed and responsive communities that support strengthening families and healing children from hard places.
