The Internship:

The social work intern is responsible for supporting program staff with the interdisciplinary model of care for a client, from inquiry to completion. She/He will assist Care Managers with case management to ensure necessary services are provided promptly and effectively. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within social work and the child welfare system are necessary for success. The intern will commit to agreed-upon time frame for internship.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Observe parent coaching sessions and prepare case notes
  • Interact with clients to obtain demographic information
  • Prepare action plans and observation forms for program staff
  • Enter client data into client tracking software
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks required by program staff
  • Prepare certificates of attendance for support group attendees
  • Engage in practice-informed research as needed
  • Contact trauma-informed professionals to determine viability for provider database
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior
  • Utilize weekly supervision and consultation
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor


  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or pursuit of either
  • General knowledge of child welfare system
  • Working knowledge of social work concepts
  • Demonstrated experience in client support and direct client communications
  • Technically competent with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from clients
  • Strong interpersonal skills; displays behavior that will enhance the client experience
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
