Founded in 2009, Chosen is a faith-based nonprofit that helps children heal from trauma with a holistic approach by strengthening foster, relative, reunified, and adoptive families with trauma-informed resources such as: parent coaching, therapy, and personalized case management.

Position Title: Development Director

Location: San Antonio, TX

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: 75K – 80K

The Position

The Development Director is an integral part of the leadership team. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive development and marketing plans. This position will lead the development team, cultivate strong donor relationships and manage grants and events.

Annual Budget: $2.2M.


Job Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and direct team, as appropriate
  • Develop and execute plans for donor cultivation, retention, and stewardship
  • Identify and solicit new potential donors
  • Manage relationships with all donors
  • Create and implement marketing campaigns and communications strategies, including digital and print material
  • Work inter-departmentally and with the Board of Directors on stories and mission advancement opportunities
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Track KPIs and measure success of department
  • Oversee year-end campaign, gala committee, and other fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain donor database



  • Bachelor’s degree, in a related field, preferred
  • 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, 3 years in a leadership role
  • Proven effectiveness in leading, managing, and coaching staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Proven organizational and planning skills
  • Experience working with Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Understand budget development and financial reporting
  • CFRE preferred
  • Quiet workspace and high-speed internet and a phone connection to support telehealth services and video conferencing



  • Ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk or other work area
  • Ability to type and verbally communicate with staff, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
