Rebecca was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. She relocated to Central Texas in 1997 where she and her husband Chris now make their home in San Antonio. They began their Foster to Adopt journey in the latter part of 2018 and are currently fostering a beautiful sibling set of three (4yr old girl, 2yr old boy and 8 month old girl) who arrived in September of 2019.
It was while serving the launch efforts of Children Matter Family Life Center that Rebecca discovered a desire to help strengthen wounded families and to support foster children and their caretakers during the long and unpredictable permanency process. What began as simply volunteering time to research funding opportunities, led to three years of board service and to eventually embarking on her and her husband’s own journey with fostering and adoption.
Upon being licensed, Chris and Rebecca immediately connected with a mentor couple through CHOSEN just as they received their very first placement. Experiencing first-hand the support that CHOSEN provides through mentorship and training, Rebecca quickly became intrigued by the mission and began to help spread the word about CHOSEN through her growing foster network. She remains motivated by the hope found in trauma-informed care and sees God’s provision for healing in the day – to – day application of relational techniques she and her husband have learned through CHOSEN.
Rebecca has spent the majority of her professional career within the social sector and is currently the board liaison and Executive Assistant to the President/CEO of Project QUEST. She is completing her B.A. in Communications online and will graduate in the spring of 2021.
Rebecca enjoys intentional time with family, day-trips, traveling and enjoys devotional writing. She aspires to publish a series books to help adults and children heal from wounds of rejection and abandonment through connecting with the love of a Heavenly Father. Chris and Rebecca have been married 10 years and worship with Grace Point Community Church West.
